From a wine consultant business to a national importer and distributor position.

21 Community Co. Ltd started as a consultant in the Tokyo on-trade market more than 15 years ago. Thanks to its prosperous business, the company developed, along the years, a rare expertise and a valuable customer database.

As a wine consultant, we faced an increasing demand from our on-trade customers for new wines. Indeed, to differentiate themselves from the other competitors in the aggressive on-trade market, they wanted we to source new wines not distributed in Japan yet and which could offer a good “value for money”.

Thus, in order to satisfy this growing demand from our historic customers, we decided to become wine and spirits importer in 2007. In just few years, we have been able to develop a very competitive offer with wines from different locations of the world.

 
2009 : a turning point – the year of the diversification…

In 2009, just two years after being wine and spirits importer, the 21 Community Co. Ltd “Wine division” developed new channels of distribution to increase its sales towards professional and also individual customers.

First, we extended our channels of distribution towards professionals in the on-trade market by adding a wholesale activity. Thanks to our numerous business connections, it became quickly successful among high-class restaurants and clubs.

Then, we opened our first online wine shop (very popular channel in Japan) to target individual customers. This online shop offers a large selection of wines from France (from “Vins de pays” to “Grands Crus Classés Bordelais” including Champagne), Spanish, Italian and South-American wines to satisfy our customers. Contrary to our consulting and wholesale activities which are “limited” to the Tokyo area, Internet gives us the opportunity to reach individuals everywhere in Japan.

In addition to our consulting activity (create winelists for our customers in the on-trade market for example), we also train the sommeliers staff of our customers.

By delivering such a training, the sommeliers can get a better understanding of the wines we sold them and, in such way, improve the quality of the service toward their customers.

 
2010 : headquarters move and opening of our new concept…

2010 was a very important for our company. Indeed, following the purchase of a 6-floor building, the headquarters moved to the trendy and international Tokyo area named Roppongi.

Following this relocation, we opened in October of the same year a whole new concept which includes a wineshop, a restaurant and also a bar as you can see below.

The wineshop offers a great selection of wines from different regions of the world : France, Italy, Spain, Chili,….. Since we care a lot about the wines, each floor of the wineshop is temperature controlled. We also use a humidifier in the cellar to recreate the same condition as a real cellar. In addition, in order not to emit heat, we only use LED lights.

The restaurant Sakura offers in a convivial environment a large variety of dishes (pasta, pizzas, meat, fishes) which the ingredients have been bought directly from the producers.

Received each morning from the farmers and the fishermen , we can serve the best quality to our customers at the best affordable price.

 
2011 : A new year brings a new with challenge HORECA business development .

In order to increase our visibility and our sales in the HORECA segment, our sales team regularly participate to tasting events organized by SOPEXA, UBIFRANCE, Spain Gourmet Fair,… in Tokyo and Osaka.

 
2012 : Opening of our French Brasserie : Le Petit Marche and…

Year 2012 brought the final touch with the opening of our latest concept “Le Petit Marche”and our bakery “L’Atelier du Pain”. French brasserie located on the 2nd and 3rd floor or our building, you will be able to experience French cuisine in a warm environment with private rooms.

The dishes are prepared by a chef with long experience in the gastronomy field

….And our bakery “L’Atelier du Pain”.

In the end of the year 2012, 21 Community Co. Ltd opened its own French bakery at the 2nd floor of its building. The main originality of the concept resides in the use of an original stone oven to make bread with natural yeast milled on site. You can enjoy a large selection of items ranging from hand-made sandwiches to cakes which can be bought for takeout or eat in.

 
2013 : 21 Community Co. Ltd - A corporate group dedicated to Food & Beverages.

21 Community Co. Ltd developed a unique approach by creating in one place, different enviroment where our customers can enjoy delicious foods and our selection of wines directly imported by us.

Being wine importer and also owner of restaurants are of a great help to promote our wines organizing special wine dinners in a very friendly atmosphere.
